COLAISTE IDE SOCCER lifted the Belgrove Cup with an impressive win over their colleagues Colaiste Ide Sports thanks to Robbie Reid’s first half goal and their captain Ryan Robinson’s second half strike at last week’s final at the CDETB Sports Grounds in Terenure.

Both Finglas College teams defied the odds by successfully coming through the round robin competition to face each other in the final. Colaiste Ide Soccer’s Oisin Lynch and Dylan Mooney squandered early chances before Reid pounced to slot home on the back of Craig Cummiskey’s corner in the fifth minute of play.

Colaiste Ide Sports first real chance of the game fell to Eoin Sweeney on seven minutes but the centre half couldn’t keep his shot down. Ross Gaffney, Daniel Reilly, Lynch, Mooney and Cummiskey led the charge for Soccer with Sports back four of Sweeney, Andrew Brady, David Kelly and Conor Flaherty standing firm.

However there was very little Sports could do about Soccer’s second goal in the 25^th minute. Cummiskey’s excellent run down the left flank and subsequent cross found its way to Robinson who calmly picked his spot to put the game beyond their opponents to the delight of Colaiste Ide Soccer’s manager Danny Crowley.
